Pearl Mini Air Compressor Requirements
Setting up the correct air system for your Pearl Mini
Introduction
SOVDA strongly recommends consulting a qualified local air compressor specialist to ensure your setup is properly sized, locally compliant, and optimized for continuous operation.
The Pearl Mini is a high-precision machine that requires a steady supply of clean, dry air to operate effectively. Consistent and clean air pressure ensures that ejectors open at the correct time, mechanical parts remain in good condition, and the Pearl Mini does not stop production due to low air pressure.
While you may already have an air compressor in your roastery, the Pearl Mini requires an air compressor with higher air demand and tighter performance tolerances than typical roasting equipment. Because of this, your air system must meet your specific local safety and regulatory standards. SOVDA therefore recommends consulting a qualified local air compressor specialist to ensure your setup is properly sized, compliant, and optimized for continuous operation.
While not mandatory, a screw-type air compressor is recommended for its ability to provide a stable and continuous air supply.
Filtration & Drying
Air Drying
You must have a refrigerator-type dryer before connecting to the Pearl Mini. Operating your Pearl Mini without a refrigerated dryer will void your warranty.
Many air compressors include an integrated refrigerant dryer, but one can also be installed inline if not already equipped. Ensure that the dryer meets the pressure and flow capacity requirements listed in the specifications table for the Pearl Mini.
Operating the Pearl Mini without properly dried air can cause ejectors to stick, leading to erratic sorting. Over time, moisture in untreated air can cause internal corrosion and premature part failure.
Air Filtration
You must install compressed air filters before connecting to the Pearl Mini. Operating your Pearl Mini without the specified air filters will void your warranty.
Even small particulate matter can disrupt ejector seals and internal parts, increasing the rejection rate of good coffee and causing early wear.
Recommended filtration (or equivalent):
| Filter Type | Specification | Installation Position |
| Type C | 5 micron | Before refrigerant air dyer |
| Type T | 1 ppm oil filter | After refrigerant air dryer |
| Type A | 0.1 ppm oil filter | After Type T filter |
| Type X | 0.1 micron water separator | After Type A filter |
| Type F | 0.3 micron particle filter | After Type X filter |
Compressed Air Requirements
The Pearl Mini requires the following minimum air supply:
-
Continuous flow: 6 CFM (170 L/min)
-
Operating pressure: 72.5 PSI (0.5 MPa)
These values represent the Pearl Mini’s air consumption only. The air compressor you choose will likely require higher specifications to maintain these levels consistently, depending on its duty cycle and performance stability.
